The Port Townsend Police Department received a total of 149 calls between Friday, April 21, and Thursday, April 27. Below are selected reports.

At 8:40 p.m. Friday, April 21, a prowler was reported in the 600 block of West Sims Way. A woman said she saw a large man attempting to get into her yard. He was seen on a fence near the property line and hid when the woman came outside. He was in the bushes trying to remain unseen, and when the woman confronted him, he left across the street to a nearby park. The man was contacted by officers and said he was sitting on the fence to relieve his sore feet because his shoes were too small. No crime was committed and the man was provided a courtesy ride downtown.

At 12:30 a.m. Saturday, April 22, a caller complained about a loud house party near the McNeill and 45th streets intersection. The party had been going on for seven-plus hours with people hanging out in the front yard and talking loudly. Officers warned the partiers about their noise level. They said they’d keep it down and the officers left.

At 4:20 a.m. Sunday, April 23, a burglary was reported in the 2000 block of South Park Avenue after a building alarm went off.

Officers arrived and found a smashed window where someone had entered the building. Officers cleared the building and found an office had been ransacked. It was unknown if any items had actually been taken and the suspect was no longer inside the building. The case is under investigation.

At 2 p.m. Sunday, April 23, a man was disturbing employees at a restaurant in the 200 block of Taylor Street.

He kept walking in and out, asking for a job, and bothering employees. The man had left by the time officers arrived, and the business owner promised to call again if the man returned.

At 10:40 a.m. Monday, April 24, a fraudulent call was made in the 5000 block of Jackman Street after a woman had been scammed over the phone.

She said someone masquerading as an Amazon employee had asked for and received some of her personal information. Now, the woman was getting texts and calls asking for money. Officers took a report and advised the woman to cancel her credit cards. She said she’d go to her bank as well as change her SIM card to avoid getting more texts and calls.

At 1:17 p.m. Monday, April 24, a caller in the 2000 block of Kingsley Place reported having more than $80,000 taken from a bank account. Two money wires were made, one for $48,000 and another for $34,000. The case is under investigation.

At 7:30 p.m. Monday, April 24, suspicious activity was reported at the Discovery Road and Thomas Street intersection. A man was acting erratic, talking to himself, and carrying a knife. The man was cutting trees and stop signs with the knife.

An officer located the man at the 15th and Thomas streets intersection.

A caller told police she had video of the man damaging the bushes in her front yard, though the woman wasn’t interested in pressing charges.

The man, a transient person, was contacted by police, who determined the man had an outstanding warrant and had several fentanyl pills in his possession. The man was arrested and booked into jail on the warrant.
