Portraiture is the theme of the January online show by the Port Ludlow Art League.
Members will use a variety of mediums to translate their interpretation of portraits of various subjects.
The show was inspired by the United Kingdom’s 2020 Portrait Artist of the Year series, which can be viewed on YouTube.
The series features nine artists, both professional and amateur, who paint a portrait of a celebrity in a four-hour sitting. One of the most interesting aspects of the competition is the vast array of styles and mediums the artists used to capture the essence of their celebrity.
Styles included realistic, abstract, impressionistic, caricature, surreal, pop, and simple outlines. Mediums included oil, acrylic, watercolor, colored pencil, graphic, pastel, and ink.
