One person was killed and a second person injured after a three-vehicle collision on Highway 104 Monday morning.
The crash occurred south of the Highway 104-US Highway 101 interchange just after 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 23.
Washington State Patrol Trooper Casey Corey said a driver in a sedan crossed the centerline into oncoming traffic and hit a dump truck.
The head-on collision killed the driver of the sedan, and the driver of the dump truck was airlifted from the scene by a medevac helicopter.
The dump truck driver received “cuts and abrasions,” but was “alert and conscious on the scene,” Corey said.
The third car involved was not directly struck in the collision, but was hit with debris from the sedan and dump truck.
The driver and passenger of the third car said they saw the sedan cross two lanes of traffic before colliding with the dump truck.
As a result of the collision, a tire came off one of the other vehicles and hit their car, the driver and passenger said.
Highway 104 was closed to traffic in both directions following the collision.
The cause of the crash is under investigation by the Washington State Patrol.
