No big surprise here: Their books check out.

The Washington State Auditor’s Office has completed its audit of the Jefferson County Rural Library District and found no problems.

The state’s accountability audit of the library district covered the span from Jan. 1, 2017 through Dec. 31, 2019.

“District operations complied, in all material respects, with applicable laws, regulations, and its own policies, and provided adequate controls over the safeguarding of public resources,” auditors said in the report, which was released April 5.

The Jefferson County Rural Library District provides library services to the unincorporated areas of east Jefferson County, and the district operates a library facility in Port Hadlock, with bookmobile service to seven other locations.

The library district has approximately 30 employees and had annual revenues of $2 million, $1.96 million, and $1.9 million in 2019, 2018, and 2017 respectively.
