The Tri-Area Community Center is going to get a new roof.
Jefferson County commissioners approved a contract last week with Hope Systems for the work.
The repair work for the community center on West Valley Road in Chimacum includes the removal and disposal of the old roof, along with new roofing materials, underlayment, flashings, and venting.
The contractor will be paid $49,147.
County officials said the existing roof was installed in 2003 and is at the end of its life.
There have been numerous leak issues, and the current roof was put on with “non-standard installation practices,” according to the county, and the shingles have degraded more quickly than anticipated.
