The Port Townsend City Council unanimously approved a resolution forming the new Equity, Access, and Rights Advisory Board during its Monday meeting.
The new board was researched and put forward by the city’s Culture and Society Committee after the council previously asked the committee to implement an ad hoc committee on public safety and law enforcement.
The new advisory board will be tasked with assisting with furthering equity, access, and rights in the city, pursuing outreach and collaboration within the community, and other roles.
The board will consist of between five to nine members appointed by the city mayor to three-year terms, and meetings will begin once at least five members have been selected.
