A 45-year-old Port Townsend man was injured and taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle Friday after his motorcycle collided with a vehicle on Highway 19 at Chimacum Road.
The man was heading south on the highway when a 2017 Toyota Tacoma pickup truck in front of the cyclist slowed to make a left turn into a driveway just before 8:30 a.m. Oct. 7, according to the Washington State Patrol.
The motorcycle then hit the back of the pickup.
The cause of the crash was following too close, according to the State Patrol, and the motorcyclist will be charged for the offense.
The motorcycle, a 2017 Yamaha FJR1300, was totaled. It was removed from the scene by All City Auto Body & Towing. The Toyota pickup truck was also damaged in the collision.
