A motorcyclist was killed in a wreck on US Highway 101 Monday morning after he laid down his bike to avoid hitting a sedan that pulled out in front of him on the highway.
The motorcyclist was identified Tuesday by the Washington State Patrol as Alexander R. Gilmore, 64, of Lethbridge, Alberta.
Gilmore was riding south on US 101 near Milepost 176 in Jefferson County near the Hoh River when the crash occurred shortly after 10:30 a.m. Sept. 5.
He came to rest in the northbound lane, and the highway was blocked to traffic Monday following the incident.
Gilmore was pronounced deceased at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.
The motorcycle, a 2013 Victory, was totaled.
The incident remains under investigation, the State Patrol said Tuesday.
