Metalwork at the next JCHS First Friday Speaker Series

Posted

Jefferson County Historical Society will present “Metalwork with the Port Townsend Foundry” as the next offering in its First Friday Speaker Series.

A series that spotlights craftspeople throughout the county, First Fridays aim to celebrate the art of making and to honor mediums of all kinds.

In the next edition, Pete Langley will give a virtual tour of the Port Townsend Foundry. The expert seafarer, sailboat racer, and maritime metalworker will share the process of turning alloys into boat hardware.

With his vast seafaring knowledge, Langley started the Port Townsend Foundry in late 1980. Not only has his business supplied products to sailors and vessels around the world, the Port Townsend Foundry has become a legendary fixture of the Wooden Boat Festival.

All of the series’ programs will be live-streamed via Zoom at 7 p.m. on the first Friday of each month.

Series passes are available and provide annual support for the historical society; passes also grant access to the rest of the series’ programs at a discounted rate.

Register for the event or purchase a series pass at jchsmuseum.simpletix.com.
