Jefferson Healthcare was recognized with a 2022 Performance Leadership Award for excellence in outcomes and patient perspective as part of National Rural Health Day.

The accolade was bestowed by Chartis Center for Rural Health, with awards handed to rural hospitals in the 75th percentile or above for quality, outcomes, and patient perspective through the Chartis Rural Hospital Performance Index — an industry-leading assessment of rural hospital performance.

“The last couple of years have been a strain for all of us and recognition like this is an honor and wonderful validation of the work we do for our patients and community,” said Mike Glenn, CEO of Jefferson Healthcare. “Delivering safe, high-quality patient care is Jefferson Healthcare’s highest priority and it is very rewarding to be recognized for our work.”

Data from the index is relied upon by rural hospitals, health systems with rural footprints, hospital associations, and state offices of rural health across the country to measure and monitor performance across several areas impacting hospital operations and finance. Jefferson Healthcare is one of three rural hospitals in Washington state to rank in two of the three measured categories, and has been recognized with the Performance Leadership Award for five consecutive years.

“Although the last two years have placed unprecedented pressure on the rural health safety net, the dedication to serving the community that we’re so accustomed to seeing from rural hospitals across the country hasn’t wavered,” said Michael Topchik of the Chartis Center for Rural Health. “Let us celebrate the power of rural on National Rural Health Day and honor the facilities working tirelessly to provide access to high quality healthcare services to their communities.”
