Jefferson Healthcare Chief Medical Officer Dr. Joe Mattern and Dr. Tracie Harris and Dr. Steve Butterfield were recently named Jefferson Healthcare’s “Providers of the Quarter” as 2020 came to a close.
The physicians’ nominator lauded their efforts to serve the hospital’s patients, and noted that since March the doctors have shared a “1-in-3 call” — meaning one of the three doctors was on call at any point in time — in order “to ensure there is always a COVID physician available for consult, to make key decisions and to contact positive patients.”
The nomination continued: “They have coordinated surge plans, ensured that staff had enough personal protective equipment (PPE) and that they know how to use it, led infection control efforts, and helped us plan for vaccine administration. They have done all this work while continuing their outstanding patient care in home health, hospice, primary care and inpatient services.”
Registered nurse Ambir Pankau also received recognition through hospital’s employee recognition program.
Pankau received two nominations for her work during the COVID-19 pandemic. Her nominator said Pankau, who also serves as the employee health coordinator, worked diligently to ensure that there were no exposures to employees from COVID-positive patients.
Jefferson Healthcare’s PPE council was nominated for team of the quarter.
The council, comprised of staff from various sectors of the organization, was lauded for its work to guarantee that sufficient supplies of PPE were on hand at all times in case of a surge in cases of COVID-19 in Jefferson County.
The PPE Council consists of Jess Cigalotti, Julia Drew, Mitzi Hazard, Tracy Ware, Deb Lettau, Arabella Daubenberger, Randy Coleman, Larry Koch, Laura Showers, Jeinell Harper, Dr. Tracie Harris, Andy Peasley, Jaimie Hobbler, Kara O’Connell, David Sharpe, Andrew Skipper, Alice Fox, Sarah Ealy, Kalie Fountain, Katie Rose Fischer Price, Shannon Groff, Kelly O’Connell, Jessi Taft, Tesha Davidson, and Rachael Collins.
