The Jefferson County Board of County Commissioners awarded a bid Monday to The Leader to be the county’s official newspaper.
The Leader will continue to publish the county’s legal notices and other advertising. The county issues a call for bids annually and typically approves a contract at the first meeting in April.
Two bids were opened on March 6 — one from The Leader in Port Townsend, and the other from the Peninsula Daily News in Port Angeles — and commissioners reviewed a comparison of bids at their March 13 meeting.
At that March 13 meeting, commissioners requested staff to prepare a contract with The Leader.
