The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office received 266 calls for service between Saturday, April 8 and Friday, April 14. Below are selected reports.

At 3:36 p.m. Saturday, April 8 in Nordland, a resident reported the theft of money from a cash box at an egg stand. A total of $37 was missing.

The caller was told by a neighbor about the theft; the neighbor reported seeing a vehicle stop by the stand and a tall man get out.

The theft happened sometime around noon.

At 2:45 p.m. Sunday, April 9 in Port Hadlock, the driver of an Amazon van was bitten by a dog.

The driver said she didn’t know if the dog had a vaccination record, and said it was the company’s policy to notify police if a history of shots could not be provided by the owner.

The woman had been scratched but did not have a puncture wound.

The owner of the dog had warned the driver not to get too close, and asked the driver to leave the package on the other side of the fence.

But the driver said Amazon would not allow the package to be left outside the property and the driver insisted on coming through the gate.

The dog owner said her property had been posted with warning signs.

She was told to start a 10-day, in-home quarantine for the dog.

The woman said she could not find the animal’s shot records because she had adopted the pet from her daughter, and they were having trouble remembering where the dog had been taken for its shots.

An animal control officer contacted the dog owner and advised her of Amazon’s desire to get a copy of the dog’s vaccination records. She was told it was the company’s policy to contact law enforcement whenever a driver is bitten but shot records could not be obtained.

At 8 a.m. Monday, April 10 in Port Townsend, a deputy conducting a dock walk at Boat Haven reported a boat violation.

A boat did not have its registration sticker properly displayed.
