The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office received 298 calls for service between Friday, March 24 and Friday, March 31.

At 7:37 a.m. Monday, March 27 in Port Hadlock, a driver with a local excavation company reported people who were dumping garbage at the recycling center.

The dumpsters were full and people in a white passenger car were leaving garbage on the ground.

The caller noticed a distinctive white box on the top of the car, which was left behind when the people left the scene.

The caller looked into the box and found mail from three different addresses. The caller provided a photo of the car and a partially visible license plate.

The name of a potential suspect was found in the trash, and some of the mail was returned to the Port Hadlock Post Office.

At 12:01 p.m. Monday,
March 27,
a woman said she was scammed by someone who lives in Port Townsend.

She reported the incident to the Port Townsend Police Department, and said she had sent someone in town $200 for items that were listed for sale on a social media page devoted to buying and selling things in Jefferson County.

The woman said she never received the items and the original post was taken down.

Authorities determined the woman had responded to a fake profile that had listed items for sale.

At 1:15 p.m. Monday, March 27 in Quilcene, a volunteer at the Quilcene Community Center complained of ongoing harassment by an employee at the center.

During a recent incident, the man was described as being white-knuckled with anger and yelling at people.

The caller said the man was very large, and was trying to intimidate people.

The caller was advised to contact the man’s supervisor, and was given advice on obtaining an anti-harassment order if things didn’t calm down.
