The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office received 626 calls for service between Friday, April 21 and Friday, May 5. Below are selected reports.

At 12:47 p.m. Thursday, April 27 in Port Hadlock, a caller said the pay boxes had been tampered with at the county camping sites in Lake Leland, Quilcene, and Upper Oak Bay.

Payments that had been deposited by campers had been removed.

No suspects were identified, and the county is working on additional security measures.

At 8:15 p.m. Thursday, April 27 in Brinnon, authorities received a third-hand report of a harassment incident near Green Mountain Lane and Church Road.

Upon investigation, it was determined that it was a civil matter that stemmed from a previous dispute.

The parties were advised to seek a no-contact order if they thought it was necessary.

At 10:04 a.m. Friday, April 28 in Chimacum, a caller said she was getting threatening texts.

The texts were apparently in response to a recent attack at school.

At 4:09 p.m. Saturday, April 29 in Nordland, a caller said someone broke into a lockbox that held money from firewood sales.

The box had been set up for campers on their way to Fort Flagler.

At 7:54 a.m. Monday, May 1 in Quilcene, a caller complained about three white dogs that were chasing animals in a nearby pasture.

The caller said a neighbor owned the dogs, and they were being aggressive.

An animal control officer was contacted, but had to drop off a dog at a shelter before responding.

The officer contacted the owner by phone and she had already retrieved her animals.

She said they took off after a coyote but had all been brought home. She also said she was fixing the area where the dogs had escaped to prevent it from happening again.

At 4:55 p.m. Monday, May 1 in Chimacum, a resident reported a dog bite.

A black Labrador had bitten a child 30 minutes earlier. The caller was the owner of the dog. A man came onto the property to talk to the caller and the man’s 10-year-old daughter followed.

The caller wasn’t sure what provoked the dog, a 6-year-old lab. She said she was thinking of putting the dog down.

An officer spoke to the father of the child, who was doing well but had two puncture wounds on her leg.

He said he had spoken to the owner of the dog who agreed to pay the medical bills and was going forward with having the animal destroyed.
