Jefferson County will start searching for a company to provide private security services at the county courthouse.
Screening of visitors to the county courthouse has been conducted by PPC Solutions, Inc. under a contract that was approved in December 2017.
The contract has been extended three times and will expire this year. At this week’s meeting of county commissioners, the board agreed to issue a “request for proposals” (RFP) for firms interested in providing services.
The proposed term of the new contract is for security screening for 2023 though 2025, and potentially, for 2026 and 2027.
County officials expect to release the RFP in late June or early July.
The current contract has a cap of $135,000 a year, and officials said the new agreement is expected to cost more.
