The new positive test for coronavirus increases the total number of COVID-19 cases in Jefferson County to 72.

So far, 38 females have tested positive for COVID, and 34 males have also contracted the disease.

Public health officials said 8,483 patients have been tested for COVID-19 through Oct. 1.
