Jeff Kent is golf pro at Discovery Bay

Posted

Jeff Kent joined Discovery Bay Golf Club earlier this summer as its resident golf professional.

Kent grew up and attended high school in Marysville, Washington, and graduated from Central Washington University. He has worked for more than 25 years as a PGA professional, most of that time in the Tri-Cities area of Washington.

"I'm the winner of dozens of events over the years, given thousands of lessons and ran about a thousand events," he noted. "I'm trying to promote the game of golf and Discovery Bay Golf Course."

Located at 7401 Cape George Road, about 5 miles west of Port Townsend, the Discovery Bay clubhouse opens daily at 7 a.m. and closes at 6 p.m. The 19th Hole eatery offers liquid refreshments and a limited food menu.

"The course is in the best shape it’s been in for a very long time, and we are working very hard to maintain it," noted Marlie Hart, clubhouse attendant.

Discovery Bay Golf Course (formerly called Chevy Chase Golf Course) is the oldest public golf course in the state of Washington, opening on May 9, 1925. The course expanded to 18 holes in 2007.

The course features the only covered driving range on the Olympic Peninsula and allows golfers to bring along their dogs. Learn more by calling the clubhouse at 385-0704.
