Regarding the golf course property — what is it that we can not do in PT today that we would only be able to if we closed or repurposed the golf course?

With the golf course intact, residents and visitors are able to play golf in PT.

If the golf course is closed we will lose a recreational opportunity currently enjoyed by many residents and visitors.

Golf does require a significant amount of land dedicated to that specific use. However, people in PT are not currently prevented from participating in other outdoor activities. There is space and places for nearly all other recreational pursuits. Certainly more pickleball courts, a nicer pool, bike paths, trails, etc., would be great, but we at least have those things in place now. And we have a golf course now, enjoyed by many of our citizens and visitors to our town. Closing the course would eliminate a wonderful amenity.

What can’t we do in PT that we could only do if the course is closed? Do we actually need that particular piece of land for some other use? The fact that some residents choose not to use the golf course is not a good reason for closing it down. I don’t use the skate park, pool, or pickleball courts, but I am really glad we have them for those people who like to. I am glad we have the golf course, too. Let’s keep the PT golf course.
