To match the rabble of revelers descending for THING, crowds of cops are coming, too.
Local law enforcement agencies are planning a DUI traffic safety emphasis patrol in the Port Townsend area during the THING festival.
The Washington State Patrol’s Mobile Impaired Driving Unit will be present to assist with impaired driver processing on Friday, Aug. 26 through Saturday, Aug. 27.
"The goal is prevention of impaired driving to ensure safer roads for this event. We encourage fun for everyone, but please make safe transportation decisions for your neighbors on the roads,” said Jefferson County Traffic Sgt. Brandon Przygocki.
Unsafe or possibly impaired driving should still be reported to 911. Also, the law enforcement agencies encourage people to reach out and speak up to prevent others from driving impaired.
