Hug a fish Cement blocks used to prop up boats hauled out at the Port of Port Townsend now remind people to follow best management practices (BMPs)."They make a terrific billboard," said Al Cairns, the port's environmental compliance officer. BMPs are standards designed to keep pollutants out of marine ecosystems, and include vacuuming toxic dust created by grinding or sanding paints containing heavy metals. Some of the blocks read "The Dude Abides by BMPs"; other sayings include "Love Your Boatyard,""Hug a Fish" and "Clean Your Tarp Often."
