Glenn W. Ison died peacefully at home on Thursday, Dec. 10th.

Glenn was born March 14th, 1928 on the family farm in Highland County, Ohio to Bill and Arizona Ison.

Glenn, the youngest of seven (four sisters and two brothers), attended Swamp College, a one-room grade school heated by a woodstove. He joined the Army in May, 1945 at the age of 17. Glenn returned to civilian life in 1947 and attended Pacific University in Forest Grove, Oregon, where he graduated Cum Laude in 1951 with a major in English.

In 1952, Glenn rejoined the Army as a 2nd Lieutenant and served in Korea with the First Cavalry Division. In 1955 he married Margret Anne Ison. Marge and Glenn happily raised two sons, Stuart and John, while living in a variety of places around the world. During Glenn's army career, he attended the Defense Language Institute (Arabic) and the Army War and Staff College, with duty stations as an Army Attache in Baghdad, Iraq, II Field Force in Vietnam and Commanding Officer of the 1 st Battalion 19th Infantry in Augsburg, Germany. In 1970, Glenn retired at the rankof Colonel and moved to Port Townsend, WA with his family. He purchased and remodeled a Victorian house located in the Upotwn area.

Glenn was active in the community and was one of the founders of Jefferson National Bank. He served on the City Council and the Hospital Board and was active in Kiwanis and various other organizations. He enjoyed gardening, reading, single malt scotch, and spending time with family and friends. After Marge passed, Glenn married Dorothy Martin in 1992. They enjoyed traveling and an active social life together until health issues required Glenn to live a quieter life.

In addition to Dorothy, sons Stuart (Deborah) and John, stepdaughter Janet Kelley, survivors include two children from a previous marriage, Bill and Casey (Tim), seven grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
