Longtime Port Ludlow, Port Hadlock resident and Business owner Glen Schenk passed away December 5th at St Michael's Medical Center in Silverdale, WA.

Glen started life in Tacoma, WA on July 2nd 1936 with parents Alfred Schenk and Viola (Bottiger), and sister Mary, his mother passing away that same year. After graduating from Lincoln High he enlisted in the Navy where he spent time in Japan and on Whidbey Island as an Avionics Technician and part of a flight crew from 1954 to 1958. He spent 4 years in the Navy and never set foot on a ship. After the navy he married Lydia (Lynn) Anderson and they raised 2 children, Gayle and Nancy until their divorce in 1970.

In 1973 Glen was working for the Department of Defense and took an assignment in Canada on Vancouver Island so he moved with his son to Parksville, B.C. where he met Edna Holmes (Hofstrand). He and Edna knew each other for only 2 months before getting married November of 1973. In 1978 they moved to Port Ludlow, WA and built there home. As his career with the D.O.D. was coming to an end He and Edna started Bayview Pumps, a business they had for several years. After selling the business they moved to Port Hadlock, WA.

Glen enjoyed hunting, fishing, ham radio (K7JXQ) and he was a Seahawks and Mariners fan. He also enjoyed yearly family camping trips.

He was a devoted Christian and very active in his church where he enjoyed many good friendships. He and Edna were both founding members of Lutheran Church of The Redeemer in Port Hadlock, their granddaughter Paige was the first baptism in that church, before the building was even finished.

Glen was proceeded in death by his wife Edna, sister Mary Steidtmann, stepson Gary Holmes, step grandson Graham Holmes and step son-in-law Jim Bass.

He is survived by his children, Gayle Schenk (Jennifer), Nancy Morgan (Greg), and stepchildren, Cheryle Bass, Donna Smith (John), Colleen Bauman (Greg), and Peter Holmes (Barb). Also, several grandchildren and great grandchildren who he was very fond of and proud of. Service to be held at Church of The Redeemer, 45 Redeemer Way Chimacum WA. Monday December 18 2023. 12:00 pm. Reception to follow, also at the church.
