Giving thanks to those who have helped us all | Letter to the editor

During Thanksgiving my thoughts turned to all of us separated from our families far away.

For me, I hope to light a candle and be grateful for all the good blessings that have come in spite of this time of a deadly virus rampant all over the world and even here in Jefferson County, the numbers rise.

So this letter is a note of thanks and to acknowledge all those people who make our lives richer by their time, talent and ability to rise above the realities and create a better life right here, right now.

For my mailman, for the post office workers, for the man who held the door open for me at Safeway, for the Dial-A-Ride drivers, for the re-opening of Aldrich’s, for the nurses and doctors who work at Jefferson Healthcare and the Humane Society and Gatheringplace and the food bank workers, and the bank people.

So that is just a few of the people but then there are the special, beautiful places like Fort Worden, North Beach, Kah Tai Lagoon and the trails and woods by my home.

For all these things I give thanks.

Blessings for a kinder and more caring community each day!
