The Quimper Geological Society will welcome Vince Matthews as the guest speaker for the group’s online meeting Saturday.
Matthews, is a retired geologist, former director of the Colorado Geological Survey, author, and now a consulting geologist in Wisconsin. He will discuss how the world’s finite natural resources are insufficient to meet each country’s booming population and economy. From cement, to petroleum, to fertilizer, to strategic metals; the scramble for a piece of the worldwide commodities pie is in a state the world has never known.
The society will meet on Zoom at 4 p.m. Saturday, May 13.
The public is invited to watch and learn more about the management of a variety of imported mineral commodities, especially “rare earth” minerals.
Register for the Zoom-only presentation and ask questions at quimpergeology.org. Zoom opens at 3:45 p.m. and the lecture begins at 4 p.m.
