The Chimacum and Port Townsend school boards will interview Scott Mauk as a finalist for superintendent for the two districts during a virtual meeting planned for Monday.
Mauk is currently the principal at Edmonds Heights K-12, Alternative Learning Experience in the Edmonds School District.
Before Mauk was hired by the Edmonds School District in 2013, he was assistant principal/athletic director at South Whidbey High School. He worked for South Whidbey schools for 17 years, which included stints as a teacher and program director.
Mauk has a bachelor’s degree from Santa Clara University, a master’s degree in teaching from The Evergreen State College, and a doctorate’s degree in education from Seattle Pacific University.
The Port Townsend and Chimacum districts are jointly searching for a new superintendent, and finalists will be interviewed by each of the school boards, by a community stakeholder panel in each district, and participate in one combined community question-and-answer forum that will be held online.
The virtual Q&A forum is 3 to 3:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 1, and officials said there will be an opportunity for the public to provide feedback after the forum.
The forum can be accessed at https://us02web.zoom.us/j/85886535858.
Finalists for the superintendent posts were picked from a pool of semi-finalists who were interviewed by both school boards Saturday, Jan. 23.
Chimacum and Port Townsend will hire their own superintendent, and both are planing to announce the new superintendents before the end of February.
