Jefferson Healthcare administered the first COVID-19 vaccines to two members of hospital staff Wednesday.
Dr. Tracie Harris was the first to receive the vaccine and registered nurse Tom Heuberger received the second dose.
The hospital has received 975 doses of the COVID vaccine made by Pfizer and BioNTech.
The hospital recently installed a cooler that is capable of storing the vaccine, which must be kept below -76 degrees Fahrenheit. Hospital officials are planning to begin administering doses to staff at a shift change Thursday morning.
Jefferson Healthcare expects to have completed the first round of vaccinations Christmas Eve.
