The Jefferson County Farmers Markets joined markets across the country in celebrating National Farmers Market Week from Aug. 7 through Aug. 13.
National Farmers Market Week is an annual celebration of markets coordinated by the Farmers Market Coalition, a nonprofit organization that supports farmers markets nationwide through training, technical assistance, and network building. This year, the campaign is centered on the essential role that farmers market operators play in our local food systems and in developing resilience in communities as hubs for local economies and connections.
The Port Townsend Farmers Market began in 1992 and celebrates its 30th season this year.
The Chimacum Farmers Market was founded in 2008 by the Chimacum Grange and was adopted in 2010 by Jefferson County Farmers Markets.
Together, they host over 100 farm, artisan food, arts, and nonprofit vendors between the two markets.
