There’s so much to see, hear, smell and do at the Jefferson County Fair.

This is just a small sampling of what the Fair has to offer. Lots more animals, activities and demonstrations await fairgoers. Detailed schedules are available at the information booth in front of the Art Building at the fairgrounds, 4907 Landes St., Port Townsend.

HORSES

Brian “Buck” Ellard

Shady Grove

Fri., 3 p.m.; Small Stage

All-acoustic group, which features strong three-part vocal harmonies accompanied by guitar, banjo, mandolin and upright bass, plays lively folksongs from the ’60s, Kingston Trio and Brothers Four. To sample the band’s music, visit shadygrovetheband.com.

Soul Siren

Ukuleles Unite! of Jefferson County

The group promotes “esprit d’ukulele” in Port Townsend and East Jefferson County, Washington. To sample its music, visit ukulelesunite.com.

Porto Alegre Music

Music that celebrates the dances of Brazil and Latin America such as bossas, sambas, mambos, cha-chas, meringues and swing. To sample their music, visit portoalegremusic.com.

Young Fiddlers

Sat., noon; Small Stage

A group that includes young and old alike who have a desire to share the music they enjoy playing. The group is led by Kate Powers; backup players are Phebe on spoons, and Chris Ethan and Don on guitars.

Aces Up

Sat., 1:30 p.m.; Small Stage

Enumclaw-based band with a unique blend of blue-collar country and the raw energy of the famous Seattle rock scene. Visit acesupcountry.com.

Dukes of Dabob

Sat., 4:30 p.m.; Small Stage

A fair favorite with their combination of swinging Dixie, traditional jazz and blues.

Ranger and the “Re-Arrangers”

Sun., 1 p.m.; Small Stage

Intriguing melodies played vigorously on stringed instruments give this group an acoustic, driving sound; the hand drummer adds a world rhythm beat. The band features two outstanding jazz improvisers: Ranger on violin and Dave Stewart on mandolin. Visit rangerswings.com.

FOR CHILDREN

The Greatest Kids’ Show on Dirt

Walk on Water

For $5, you can experience the “Water Balls.” Climb into a 6-foot-diameter, water-tight plastic sphere and try to cartwheel, flip, bounce, crawl or simply stand. Those weighing less than 440 pounds can play. All ages.
