Engage with Chemakum History and Stories

Posted by barbarablair@mac.com

Step into the world of the Chemakum people as we invite you to observe stunning portraits of Chemakum descendants and hear their powerful stories. On Thursday, September 12, at Fort Worden Commons, come meet some of the descendants and view these captivating portraits starting at 6 PM.

At 7 PM, gather in Ballroom A for a special storytelling session led by Rosalee Walz, Tribal Chair, as she shares the rich history of the Chemakum from their own perspective. This is a unique opportunity to connect with the vibrant community and understand the paths they have walked—paths that remind us that the Chemakum are still here and thriving.

Originally showcased at Chimacum High School in April 2022, this photography exhibit has illuminated the stories of the Chemakum tribe, bringing their history to light and fostering deeper connections within our local community.

The Chemakum extend their heartfelt gratitude to photographer Brian Goodman, Kerry Tremain, the League of Extraordinary Observers, the truth-seeking Chemakum History Group of Native Connections Action Group at QUUF and Fort Worden Hospitality for their support.

Don’t miss this chance to engage with the vibrant Chemakum culture and history at this free event! The portraits will be on display at Fort Worden Commons through mid-September. Information: Chemakum.org
