Port Townsend Indivisible is organizing a rally and march for Earth Day.
The group is inviting the public to join in at the rally and march — planned for noon Saturday, April 22 — at Sims Way/Kearney Street near the Food Co-op.
Organizers said the event is being held “to spotlight the existential fight for earthlings in the 21st century.”
Attendees should bring signs supporting the environment. Those wishing to march will carry signs down Water Street and back.
Earth Day is an opportunity to promote environmental causes and fight environmental degradation. According to the Library of Congress website, April 22, 1970 was the first observation of Earth Day.
By the time of the day’s 20th anniversary in 1990, people in 141 countries had participated in Earth Day celebrations.
