A magnitude 3.7 earthquake was reported east of Quilcene around 1:10 a.m. Thursday.

According to the Pacific Northwest Seismic Network, the quake centered approximately six miles east of Quilcene, on the Toandos Peninsula near Thorndyke Creek.

It was felt as far north as Mount Vernon, and in the south, Tacoma.

No damage has been reported.

“This was minor but there is the possibility of much worse. This is a good reminder to build your GRAB & GO Kit and become prepared for a major event,” said Jefferson County Emergency Management Director Willie Bence.

The reported depth of the earthquake was measured by the Pacific Northwest Seismic Network at 14.5 miles.

Two smaller movements were also reported in the hours that followed the 3.7 event; a 1.5 magnitude event (at 4:44 a.m. Thursday, at a depth of 14.8 miles) and a 1.9 magnitude event (at 4:46 p.m. Thursday, at a depth of 14.8 miles). Both were less than a mile south of the first quake on Sept. 8.
