Kitsap Bank has awarded $18,000 in donations to the Port Townsend Food Bank and nine other food banks in the region.
The funding came from “From Shred to Fed” events held during the months of September and October around the region. The public was invited to bring outdated or sensitive documents to various Kitsap Bank branches for secure destruction, while making a donation to the local food bank in that community.
Combined with the bank’s corporate donations, Kitsap Bank generated more than $35,000 in 2022 for local food banks in Jefferson, Kitsap, Clallam, and Pierce counties.
“We were very pleased to partner with our local food banks to support those in need in our communities,” said Charles Robertson, senior vice president of retail banking for Kitsap Bank. “Through this year’s shred events, we were able to not only raise vital funds, but also awareness about food insecurity right here at home.”
