They came, they saw, and one of them conquered the competition.

The Discovery Bay Women’s Club faced pro golfer Jeff Kent Thursday for the annual “Beat the Pro” event, with Jodi Stone beating the pro by a whopping 10-point margin.

Twelve ladies brought out the clubs for the event, competing with their net scores against Kent’s gross score across 18 holes.

A net score is the golfer’s total number of strokes, while a gross score is the golfer’s total strokes subtracted by their handicap on a given course.

Kent rotated with four groups of ladies for four to six holes of competition throughout the 18-hole round. Amidst the beautiful, late-spring weather, Stone pulled off the upset on Kent with a net score of 67.

Kent earned a gross score of 77 in the competition.

Tied for second were Barb Aldrich and Cindy Breed, each ending with 79 gross scores. Fourth place went to Terry Graham with an 82 gross score, and Graham earned the lowest amount of putts at 34.
