Some customers of the Jefferson County Public Utility District in Port Townsend may have received erroneous disconnection notices with their May 4 statements.
The Jefferson County PUD tweeted an announcement on the mistake Monday afternoon.
The tweet linked to the power company’s website, which said: “This was due to human error in the mailroom where the statements are generated. PUD staff and commissioners sincerely apologize for any distress these notices caused our customer owners.”
Jefferson County PUD is currently not disconnecting customers for nonpayment.
