Five new COVID-19 cases have been reported in Jefferson County so far this week.

All five infections were found in mid-county residents; three women and two men tested positive for the coronavirus, according to Jefferson County Public Health. Two of the people were in their 60s, two were in their 30s, and the other case was a person between the age of 50 and 59.

The new cases brought the cumulative total of COVID-19 cases to 351 in Jefferson County.

Jefferson County went into last weekend with 346 total cases after a report of a new case Friday, April 2 that found an infection in a mid-county male who was under the age of 20.

Through Tuesday, April 6, health officials said a total of 21,302 tests have been administered for the coronavirus since the start of the pandemic, and 20,900 tests have come back negative.

A total of 155 COVID cases have been found in Port Townsend residents; 160 in mid-county residents; and 36 in south county (Quilcene, Brinnon, and West Jefferson).

Test results were still pending Tuesday for 51 residents, and six active cases were still in isolation.

Based on gender, 179 males have tested positive for COVID-19 since the start of the pandemic in Jefferson County, and 172 females have tested positive.

A total of 25 residents have been hospitalized for the coronavirus since the start of the pandemic, and two deaths have been linked to COVID-19.

County health officials reported that 337 people have recovered from COVID-19.

People are considered "recovered" at 28 days from the onset of symptoms if they are alive and not hospitalized, according to the state Department of Health.
