The city of Port Townsend is set to receive $500,000 from Jefferson County to aid its ongoing efforts to construct Evans Vista, an affordable housing project on the west side of Port Townsend.
County commissioners approved the grant funding during their meeting Monday. The $500,000 comes from American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds.
County commissioners had been briefed on the Evans Vista project in December 2021, and made a preliminary agreement then to committing the ARPA funds for the housing project.
Evans Vista is a 14.4-acre plot of land south of the Rainier Street and Sims Way roundabout that the city purchased at the end of 2021. Planners expect the property to provide a mix of 100 to 150 workforce housing units.
