The East Jefferson Rivals softball team faced Cascade Christian High School last Wednesday at home for a double-header matchup, losing both games to the Cougars.
Facing Cascade Christian at home in Blue Heron Middle School’s softball field, the Rivals girls put in a solid effort, but it wasn’t enough to topple their foes.
The red-hot Cougars are undefeated in the Nisqually League, and they quickly pounced on a new Rivals team that began its inaugural softball season this year as a combined team with student-athletes from Port Townsend and Chimacum high schools.
For the Wednesday, April 12 games, EJ lost the first 21-0, and lost the second matchup, 23-2.
The double-header losses — along with another 20-4 loss to Klahowya Secondary School — brings the Rivals’ record to 0-12 (0-11 conference) as the newly-founded team hopes to soon earn its first win of the season.
The Rivals softball team was scheduled to next face Vashon Island High School Wednesday, April 19 at Vashon, with the Pirates softball squad currently sporting a 1-6 (0-4 conference) record.
