Who is going to pay?
We are thankful for the wonderful gift of Chetzemoka Park and that the city is funded to maintain it.
How are we going to pay for the published popular plans for the golf course property?
There are many examples of where the city has not been able to afford the maintenance, let alone improve, common areas. The upkeep of city roads and the efforts to maintain planted areas along Sims Way and Rainier Avenue, rain gardens, and other planted public areas are examples.
And, what about civic safety; Chetzemoka has had times it has needed more oversight.
Even if the majority wants these changes, for the city’s good, we need to hear how they will be funded and maintained. Right now, the people using the golf course help to pay for its maintenance. Ideas are a delight and important. We want to hear the long-range costs, who will be accountable, and how they will be paid.
