As with 2 years ago, I’ve been following the Port of Port Townsend meetings with intense interest. I am deeply tdisappointed that the commission tried to sneak in a property tax increase without the input from its constituents. Basically, the proposed IDD (now on the ballot) would allow the Port to raise property taxes throughout the county by up to $0.45 per thousand of assessed value for six years. Discussions again are centered on using the funds on deferred maintenance like Point Hudson - projects that have no hope of creating a financial return. The Port Commissions failure to lead will impact me severely as I am on a fixed income. Don’t elect another maritime member that just wants to tax us to subsidize their profits. Vote for Chuck Fauls who will seek new ways to generate port income.
