The city of Port Townsend is set to make an amendment to its comprehensive plan next year for the Sims Gateway and Boatyard Expansion Project.
A presentation was made during the city’s Planning Commission meeting in early December, covering the multi-year project that involves removing the Lombardy poplar trees lining East Sims Way, redesigning the foliage and walkways along the roadway, and expanding the perimeter of nearby Boat Haven Marina.
In January or early February, the city is set to submit a comprehensive plan amendment for the subarea plan, according to Carrie Hite, the city’s director of parks and recreation strategy.
While the specifics of the amendment have yet to be laid out, a public hearing will occur in early 2023.
