A bicycle rodeo could be coming to Port Townsend.
While details and plans remain in the air, the city of Port Townsend plans to host a bike rodeo sometime in May or early June, according to Police Chief Thomas Olson.
A bicycle rodeo is a clinic offered to teach children the skills, knowledge, and precautions to ride a bike safely.
The Port Townsend Police Department plans to be a partner in the event.
“We’re hoping to provide them with helmets and overall safety tips and engage the police with the youth,” Olson said.
Event organizers plan to set up an obstacle course for kids to ride through and learn the biking basics, but many details and elements of the event have yet to be decided.
