The Port Townsend City Council is considering changing the starting time for its regularly scheduled business meetings.
During the city council’s Dec. 5 business meeting, councilmembers discussed the possibility of moving the meeting start time to an earlier point.
“Some staff members have brought up looking at changing our meeting start time to a little bit earlier,” Port Townsend Mayor David Faber said near the end of last Monday’s meeting. “Six p.m. was one of the recommendations.”
The current starting time of 6:30 p.m. causes some city staff who live outside Port Townsend to not get home until late at night, Faber noted.
Official action would have to be taken to change the start time from 6:30 to 6 p.m. or another time, with a code amendment required for the change, said City Attorney Heidi Greenwood.
