July 4 activities
Centrum presents Fiddle Tunes’ “Fiddles on the Fourth” on Thursday, July 4, at 1:30 p.m. in the McCurdy Pavilion, with food provided by A&H Curbside Grill and tickets available at centrum.org/event/fiddles-on-the-fourth-2.
The Old Alcohol Plant Inn’s Fourth of July “Blues, Brews & BBQ” runs from 4-8:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 4, with a $15-per-person cover charge at the door, and a $45-per-person charge for the barbecue.
The Keg and I’s potluck and jam sessions have extended hours for the Fourth of July, running from noon to 10 p.m. on Thursday, July 4, with a grill available for burgers and hot dogs, and a request to bring your own dishes, but no outside beverages, since all pints are $1 off that day.
The Quilcene Lions Club presents its Fourth of July picnic and potluck on Thursday, July 4, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Worthington Park, free for all ages, with hot dogs and snacks available thanks to not only the Lions, but also the Masons, and the Quilcene-Brinnon VFW and Garden Club.
Fireworks rules
The State Fire Marshal’s Office issued a reminder of the approved dates and times of legal sales and use of fireworks in Washington state. The window for Fourth of July celebrations opened June 28, with approved hours for the sale and discharge of fireworks on Wednesday, July 3, running from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. The sales window remains the same for Thursday, July 4, but the discharge period extends from 9 a.m. to midnight that day. On Friday, July 5, fireworks sales are approved from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m, while fireworks discharges are approved from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m.
