The Brinnon School District recently received grant funds of $185,000 from the Washington State Legislature to purchase a modular building.
The funds to be used are part of the Legislature’s capital budget and the district is expected to track expenditures using its capital projects fund. All costs incurred by the district above the grant award’s amount will be the responsibility of the district.
According to Legislature’s 2020 Capital Budget, funds for the project are “provided solely for competitive grants for modular classrooms for the purpose of replacing portables in school districts with space challenges due to unavailable land for new school facilities to accommodate enrollment growth or with an overdependent use of portables to provide classroom space.”
