Activist to talk about new memoir in visit to Port Townsend

Nonviolent Quaker Activist George Lakey’s book tour promoting his new memoir, “Dancing with History: A Life for Peace and Justice,” will come to Port Townsend next week.

Lakey will visit for an author’s talk at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 8 at the Port Townsend Friends Meetinghouse.

From his first arrest in the Civil Rights era to his most recent during a climate justice march at the age of 83, Lakey has committed his life to a mission of building a better world through movements for justice. In his memoir, he draws readers into the center of history-making events, telling often serious stories with playfulness and intimacy.

Port Townsend Friends Meetinghouse is at 19th and Sheridan streets. Masks are required, and organizers of the event note that seating is limited, so people should plan to arrive early.
