Alli- "We hear you're leaving, that's OK". Said Steely Dan.

Not so long ago when you arrived here in PT, you and your significant other came into my gallery and we talked. As so many do. from near and far. This is my constant touchstone to greater realities and ideas beyond the city gates.

I spoke with your significant for some time about woodworking and instrument making. And you a little about your new job here at the Leader.

I gave my usual assessment regarding local politics and the Leader not often shaking things up enough, and so being part of the "chosen elite" problem historically. I spared you any details and figured you would know soon enough what lies behind the veneer here.

Some come and fit in. Some don't. Some go tribal. Some don't.

Always, Alli, remember this form Ziggy Marley.

"GOT TO BE TRUE TO YOURSELF". As he advises, "day in day out, ask many questions". When your neighbors in local politics can't give straight answers in person to damaging actions, things become very untrue.

The place you are leaving is far down that less than true road. Perhaps you feel that. The heart of what you write here is....

"I wish this place had felt more like home and I wish it had been easier to be a part of this community."

I wish for you and your true love a place you can really feel a real part of. The cast of characters here will play on. The real course is firmly set.

Perhaps a blessing to have seen it, few understand it. Glad you were able to do a Joe Walsh and "Walk Away".

And if you are lucky and don't go brain dead tribal, Miley as a song for you ....

There's always gonna be another mountain

I'm always gonna wanna make it move

Always gonna be an uphill battle

Sometimes I'm gonna have to lose

Ain't about how fast I get there

Ain't about what's waitin' on the other side

It's the climb
