However, it is estimated that 1,000,000 visitors come to Port Townsend each year and most are driving cars or large recreation vehicles. To require residents to pay for street repairs while most of the damage is caused by out-of-town drivers is very unfair. If the city enforced paid parking for visitors it would probably generate much more revenue than car tabs would.
