The fifth annual Port Townsend Wearable Art Show drew more than 1,000 spectators to the two shows May 9 at Fort Worden's McCurdy Pavilion. (That's a long step forward from the first show's 120 tickets at the Fort Worden gymnasium.)

The show is a fundraiser for the Jefferson County Community Foundation's Fund for Women and Girls.

This year saw the debut of a new category: Art You Can Really Wear. Several pieces at the show were for sale; there were changing rooms available for would-be purchasers at intermission.

The winner of Best in Show was "Puzzled Petals" by Nonie Gaines of Port Townsend, modeled by Sarah Holtman. "Puzzled Petals" also won the coveted People's Choice award.

Taking second place was "Confetti Cakewalk," made with hundreds of fluttering paint-sample cards from a discontinued display at Henery Hardware. Artist is Teri Nomura of Port Townsend; the piece was modeled by Gina Johnston. In third place was "Zelda the Ice Queen" by Lee Zuhars and modeled by Leslie Taylor. Honorable Mention went to "Fleur de Farine" by artists Kellen Lynch and Hanna Nicole, who modeled the bread-based piece.

Winner of the Best Student Award was "pOm'n" by Karen Lao, modeled by Michael D'Allesandro: a fluffy collection of fuzzy pom-poms covering a bright-pink base. "A Street Jacket" by Joyce Wilkerson and modeled by Kristan Lucas won Best Art you Can Really Wear.
