Walter E. Burrows, 92, of Port Townsend passed away in his home on Nov. 13, 2022.

Walter was born on July 6, 1930 in Los Angeles, California to Marie Verna (née Votendahl) and Byron Chauncey Burrows.

On Nov. 26, 1976 in Las Vegas, Nevada, Walter married Linda May Spurgeon, the love of his life.

Walt was a tile setter by profession. He was the owner and operator of Burrows Tile, Inc. in Southern California for around 20 years. In the 1990s, he semi-retired as a valued senior tile setter for a large tile company. Over the span of his working years, he contributed to the rapidly growing infrastructure of the greater Los Angeles area and Orange County. His other residences include Placentia and San Clemente, California. In 1996, Walt and Linda finally retired to Port Townsend.

Walt had great passion and respect for nature. He was an experienced and avid hunter and fisherman, as well as an adventurous traveler. In quiet times, he enjoyed reading historical, adventure, and crime novels. First thing every morning, he read portions of the Bible, and in order to always be well informed about current events, the newspaper was always in hand.

Walt is survived by two daughters, Kathleen M. Howald and Karyn D. McDonald; one son, Thomas J. Sauer; and numerous grandchildren and extended family. Walt is predeceased by his wife, Linda; son, Stephen B. Burrows; and three brothers, Dr. Gordon F. Burrows, Dr. William K. Burrows, and Richard L. Fogarty. Walt was a member of Calvary Community Church in Port Townsend.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Dec. 10, at Calvary Community Church, 82 Romans Road, Port Townsend.
